It's Labor Day weekend here in the United States, also known as Summer's Last Hurrah. So let's say goodbye to summer and hello to the autumn. (People in other climes, feel free to adapt as needed.)
1. Share a highlight from this summer.
* Spending time at the Zoo and at Grandma & Grandpa's farm with my son. He sure is a blast!
2. Are you glad to see this summer end? Why or why not?
* Yes, I'm tired of the heat and humidity! Looking forward to some time in the cool crisp air.
3. Name one or two things you're looking forward to this fall.
* We have a maple tree in our back yard. Watching it turn from green to red is just amazing!!
4. Do you have any special preparations or activities to mark the transition from one season to another?
* Husker Football Season begins each September. We ring in the new season by screaming at the TV....."You gotta make that catch!!"
5. I'll know that fall is really here when you wake up and walk outside and you can see your breath.

And the day is at an end.
It's hard to believe that my day is over. House picked up, laundry done, dishes washed, packed and almost ready to leave on our vacation. With a few minor things to be done tomorrow and we are out of here when the kids leave. It's nice to see the vacation in our sight. I wish we would have taken vacation earlier this summer, but it never worked out.
On a side note, today was a better day for school for my son. He managed to keep from having accidents (none today vs. 6 yesterday) and even was excited to share some details about his day, unlike yesterday. School is cool again. Tomorrow will be different, but then for him, he doesn't go back until Tuesday. Ah-well.....such as life.
Tonight, football season officially resumes. My hubby kicked me off the TV upstairs so he could watch his beloved sport. Let me restate that.....there was nothing else on and he was drooling at the thought of watching a sport where men thrust their bodies toward each other at high speeds and try to force a oblong, pig-made product from each others arms in hopes of recovering it and. He loves the sport! I have to admit, so do I. But it is so much watching and listening him enjoy it that it is more entertainment than any show on the tube. =)

School Began
So, I should feel happy that my 4 year old left for school today. He's in preschool and yes, the bus did come pick him up. As dad took him to the bus, he wasn't so sure.
That made me think...well...
Am I ready for that step myself?
Am I ready to see him head to kindergarten next year?
Am I ready to see my little boy grow up?
Tears welled up in my eyes and it was hard not to cry thinking of how quickly the last 4 years have gone. Sigh......at least I have him 4 now. =)

The day before
Tomorrow starts my son's first day back at preschool. I'm so excited. Words can not describe how happy I am. I won't have to worry about him making noise at quiet time. I won't worry about him being bossy to the kids when he feels like it. I don't have to worry about him saying no to me and stomping his foot (he started that again today). I can have 4 days a week.....son free and care free. Well....almost, I still have the other 6-7 kids to look after. But at least I have one more free.

What Does Your Pizza Say About You?
What Your Pizza Reveals People may tell you that you have a small appetite... but you aren't under eating. You just aren't a pig.
You consider pizza to be bread... very good bread. You fit in best in the Midwest part of the US.
You like food that's traditional and well crafted. You aren't impressed with "gourmet" foods.
You are generous, outgoing, and considerate with your choices.
You have many conflicting and complementary layers to your personality. You should consider traveling to Australia.
The stereotype that best fits you is emo. You think you're special... and you kind of are.

I am a red crayon
You Are a Red Crayon
Your world is colored with bright, vivid, wild colors.
You have a deep, complex personality - and you are always expressing something about yourself.
Bold and dominant, you are a natural leader. You have an energy that is intense... and sometimes overwhelming.
Your reaction to everything tends to be strong. You are the master of love-hate relationships.
Your color wheel opposite is green. Green people are way too mellow to understand what drives your energy.

so busy
So, it's been so busy around here.
My dad had a house fire...he's fine, but the house is toast.
Daycare kids needing attention.
Planning to take trip to see family this weekend.
And so much more going on that I can't even get into. I am ready for a long vacation.

Day 10
So, as I sit here holding a 10 month old (almost 11 months)....I get to thinking about how much fun this age is. They are learning so much. Interacting all the time. And although they get into trouble, they are fun to watch entertain themselves. Oh, how I wish 10 1/2 months was the age all babies came out as. I wouldn't like that pain at delivery....so strike my last comment. =)

Day 9
So, today is not starting very good. Bank issues (website won't work), 3 kids crying when they entered the house (one cried for 45 minutes because he wanted to go to the zoo again with grandma and not to my house), and then the tide of calm came over the house. All is good again.
I like things now. =)

My Brain is Purple
Your Brain is Purple Of all the brain types, yours is the most idealistic.
You tend to think wild, amazing thoughts. Your dreams and fantasies are intense.
Your thoughts are creative, inventive, and without boundaries.
You tend to spend a lot of time thinking of fictional people and places - or a very different life for yourself.

Tomorrow starts school for the Elementary School where my husband works. It's amazing how quickly time goes! My son will be starting kindergarten next year (if all goes as planned). That will also go way too quickly!!

Day 7
Have you ever wondered what makes a 4 year old tick? Is it the snacks we give them? The attention they strive to get? Does the independence go to their head? What makes them fly off the handle so easily? Deep down, I know that they are still learning to deal with their emotions and fight for more independence, but in my head I believe that it's a conspiracy to drive his/her parents nuts. It starts with just the child then they will bring anything or anyone into the mix to aid in this craziness. That's what I think. =)

Day 6
So, thankfully it is Saturday. A day of catch up and rest. Right? I just found out my dad's house caught on fire. He is in SD and I am in NE and not too close by right now. Thankfully my sister lives close and was there for him. He will stay with her until all is figured out. Hopefully....we can.

Day 5
So, I got to thinking today about how frustrating it is to call an electrician. If you tell them you have an emergency, they are definitely out there to fix the problem right away. But, then there comes those "non-emergencies". Heaven knows when they'll be there. I have requested these new smoke detectors to be installed a month ago. First, he said he would put in these wireless ones that would work all together with the wired ones put in. Then it took 3 weeks to get those in from the warehouse. Now, it is taking more time for him to "clear" his schedule. I know that I have requested just smoke detectors. But come on....they are just smoke detectors. Get them in and get out. I should not take months just to put in a few simple boxes.
Then....there is my son. I love him....don't get me wrong. But there are some days.......oh my. He is in this Mr. Bossy stage. Oh, this is more annoying than the "no" or "why" stages he has been in. He pushes, takes things, bosses the other kids, and is very bully like at times. I don't think he is trying to be a bully, but is trying to be the 2nd in charge of the daycare. It doesn't come out that way most times and is very, very frustrating. Today is no different. I have decided that school can not come soon enough. Time outs don't work and sending him to his room doesn't either. He just finds whatever "consequence" and makes it fun for him. It's hard to make him understand that he can't be this way. Oh, the frustrating things our children do.

Day 4
Day 4 has been a busy/fun/hectic/extremely tiring day. Keep in mind, I can have a maximum of 10 kiddos in my care. 2 have to be school age, and the others have to be under that age (no more than 2 babies under 12 months. With that in mind, I have 10 kiddos today in my care.
1 - 10 month old
2 - 20 month olds
1 - 2 year old
2 - 3 year olds
2 - 4 year olds
1 - 6 year old
1 - 7 year old
It's all good. The older kiddos help out with the younger ones. The younger ones have had a great morning...although I think I need to knock on wood for the afternoon. =)
As of now, I have the 4 older ones in quiet time. The other 6 kiddos are fast asleep. I feel pretty good if those are my odds. =) It's going to be a great day!! I will feel so accomplished at the end if I pull it through.
Wish me luck!

Day 3
So, today is a new day. In my care are 7 kiddos. 4 are not napping. 1 has worked his body out of nap time, 2 are school age so they have been out of the routine for a bit, and the last one is very determined that he does not "need" a nap and wants to join the "big" kids. It is quite funny to watch. =)
As far as things go, I am tired. My body is physically exhausted each day. Coming up with a menu (new food program) each week and making my days easier by preparing food the night before and making sure each aspect is ready does get draining. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy my job....but it seems that the more kiddos I watch, the more tired I am. The more tired I am the more I worry about my job. The good news....I am watching my cola intake and drinking more juice and water.
One of these days....my days will be less tiring.

Day 2
So, I thought I need to introduce myself. My call name is krugie23. I grew up in South Dakota, but now live in Nebraska.
Currently, I run a a daycare in my home and boy does it get exhausting! School is about to start and schedules are crazy! Yesterday, I had 7 kiddos and today I have 5. Just amazing. Tomorrow will be busier, but like I said, it all depends on the day.
The kiddos are great! They keep me on my toes and make me appreciate how being a kid at heart feels. They never stop amazing me with the questions, insights, and tactics (ways to get out of doing something) that they exhibit on a daily basis. We are good for each other. Right now, it's nap time (my favorite part of the day). I can breathe, relax, and enjoy the quiet for a bit before they all stretch off their mats. =)
My husband is a teacher. He has been teaching for 5+ years and enjoys it. He will be teaching 4th grade this year. That is quite a step up from 1st that he had been teaching for 4 years. But, I have confidence in him and back when we started dating, that was the grade level that he always wanted to teach. So, maybe this is fate.
We have a 4 year old son. He's a blast but quite a kid full of energy. Great fun and keeps us not only on our toes, but smiles on our face and laughter in our hearts. We have had so much fun with him and hope to continue that for many years!
I live in small town Nebraska. I love it where I live, but yearn to move closer to family. It's not in the cards at this moment, but maybe sometime. One can dream.
As far as aspirations for this blog, I just hope to share my thoughts and feelings. I love to talk and if I can vent or share a bit on my mind, I feel it can help me become a better person. I hope anyone who reads this will appreciate a different or similar view on life.
